Incubation forum and supporting startups – HCMC Incubation Network 2023

“Incubation Forum and Startup Support – Ho Chi Minh City Incubation Network 2023” held on December 7, 2023, featured 2 main activities: A workshop and a talk show at B4 Auditorium, along with an exhibition at B4 courtyard.

With the aim of fostering collaborative connections, investmnets, and creating opportunities for startups of HCMC Incubation Network (HIN), as well as providing a platform for professors and students from VNU-HCM University of Technology to showcase and promote entrepreneurial products and services while connecting with talent resources, the University recently organized this event.

The workshop had the honor of hosting esteemed guests, including leaders representing various member units of the Ho Chi Minh City Incubation Network (HIN).

Representatives from the VNU-HCM University of Technology included Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, the Rector of the University, along with leaders from different faculties and departments.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Dinh Anh Khoi highlighted the crucial role of HIN network members in promoting the development and support of startup enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City.

The HIN plays a vital role in creating a favorable environment, contributing to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and innovative activities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Representatives from member units shared their achievements and challenges in incubation activities and startup support in 2023. Additionally, discussions about collaborative plans for 2024 among HIN members were crucial in shaping the direction and common goals.

The integration of ideas and plans for the future could establish a solid foundation for the development of the startup ecosystem and business support in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Secretary-General of the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) and Director of the Quang Trung Software Business Incubation Center, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Incubation Network (HIN), shared insights into the history and role of the HIN.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Hang, CEO of Business Startup Support Centre (BSSC), shared experiences in supporting startups and proposed network collaboration from exemplary support organizations, expressing expectations for robust development in the future.
Ms. Dao Anh Doan, representative of the VNU-HCM Innovative Entrepreneurship Center (IEC), introduced the operating model and startup support at IEC, as well as incubation experiences, and suggested network collaboration from exemplary university incubators.
Mr. Nguyen Hai An, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center, presented notable research results and outlined the development direction of incubating research outcomes from research institutes, with the goal of translating theories into business life, promoting technology incubation, and commercializing products in the field of biotechnology, creating added value for society.

In the present era, with the increasing popularity and rapid development of the startup movement in Vietnam, especially among young people, the role of incubation centers needs to be emphasized in supporting businesses to overcome challenges and guide them in the right direction from the initial steps of their entrepreneurial journey.

The exhibition showcased entrepreneurial spirit and innovation within the community, particularly when real-world perspectives and success stories were shared, thereby fostering the development of the innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem in Ho Chi Minh City.
